How a weekly poker night between friends grew into Melbourne's most distinctive gaming event venue.
In 2023, Marcus Chen and Priya Kapoor were hosting what they called "Casino Thursdays" — a weekly gathering at Marcus's apartment where friends would bring chips, play cards, and argue about roulette strategies. What started with twelve people and a single folding table quickly outgrew the living room.
Within months, they were renting community halls, hiring amateur dealers, and fielding requests from friends of friends who'd heard about the nights. The demand was undeniable — people wanted a proper casino experience without the stakes, the smoke, or the pressure of a real gambling floor.
In early 2024, Marcus and Priya found a heritage space on Collins Street, gutted it, and spent six months building their vision: a dedicated venue with full-size casino tables, a proper bar, and enough room for 60 guests. Dreamadventureau opened its doors in October 2024.
We believe that casino games are fundamentally social. The best moments aren't about winning or losing — they're about the crowd that gathers around the roulette table, the laughter when someone splits tens at blackjack, and the slow-build tension of a poker hand played between friends.
